Public Relations Society of India, Chennai Chapter and Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS), Department of Visual Communication Signed MoU on 28.09.2026 to Strengthen Academic–Industry Collaboration in Visual Communication and Public Relations
The MoU aims to establish a meaningful platform for cooperation between academia and the professional communication industry through a range of academic and creative initiatives, including Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), seminars, guest lectures, workshops, skill-development programmes, video competitions, media festivals and other creative events. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Muthusamy Bhaskaran, Vice-Chancellor (FAC), VISTAS, Dr. M. Chandrasekaran, Registrar, VISTAS, Dr. Mary Genila X, HOD I/C, Department of Visual Communication, Dr. N. Raja, Chairman, PRSI Chennai Chapter; Dr. S. Shridevi, Secretary, PRSI Chennai Chapter; and Mr. S. Sampath Kumar, Joint Secretary, PRSI Chennai Chapter and Mr G Krishnan, National Council Member, PRSI.
The collaboration is expected to provide students and faculty members with valuable opportunities for industry exposure, practical learning, professional networking, knowledge sharing and creative engagement. It will also facilitate interaction with communication professionals and practitioners, enabling students to gain a better understanding of current industry practices and emerging trends. The MoU marks an important step towards creating sustained opportunities for collaborative learning, professional development, creative production and industry engagement, benefiting both students and faculty members of the Department of Visual Communication, VISTAS.
Speaking on the occasion, the representatives highlighted the importance of strengthening academia–industry partnerships to enhance the professional skills, creativity and employability of students in the rapidly evolving media and communication sector.
